Lords of Harlech was born from a simple but radical idea — that luxury menswear could be bold.
Not safe. Not understated. Not another navy blazer. Bold.
British designer Paul Mainwaring founded the brand in 2016 with a conviction that the most discerning customers in the world were ready for something different. Vibrant color. Distinctive print. Custom-developed textiles crafted into silhouettes that were modern, wearable, and impossible to ignore.
He was right.
2016 - The Beginning
Paul Mainwaring grew up between Wales and England before making his way to New York, where he worked with some of America's most recognized retail brands. He eventually settled in the Carolinas, and it was here, far from the traditional fashion capitals, that Lords of Harlech was built.
The name comes from Harlech Castle, the medieval Welsh fortress perched on the cliffs above Cardigan Bay. Ancient, defiant, and dramatic — it felt like the right foundation for a brand that refused to blend in.
From the beginning, every textile was designed in-house in the Carolinas. Surface prints, base fabrics, color palettes, all conceived and controlled at source. It is an approach that remains unchanged today, and it is why Lords of Harlech pieces look like nothing else on the market.
2019 - The Dragon Collection
The Dragon Collection arrived as a bolder, more expressive extension of the brand. Named for the Welsh dragon — symbol of strength and identity — it became the creative heart of Lords of Harlech. Rich fabrics, intricate textures, statement prints, and modern tailoring defined a collection that quickly found its audience among high-end retailers and collectors worldwide.
2024 - Lords of Harlech Uomo
The launch of Lords of Harlech Uomo marked a new chapter. Made exclusively in Italy, in partnership with some of Europe's finest manufacturers, Uomo represents the highest expression of the brand's craft. Lightweight tropical wool tailoring, superfine merino knitwear, silk ties, and cashmere. Each piece is a study in European elegance with a Lords of Harlech sensibility.

2025 — Expansion
Femme Core & Femme Dragon
Lords of Harlech expanded into womenswear for the first time, introducing collections that brought the brand's signature approach to color, print, and resort dressing to a new audience.
A Home on Utrechtsestraat

In the heart of Amsterdam's most stylish neighborhood, Lords of Harlech opened its first flagship boutique — a physical home for the brand, and a destination.

2026 - Into Lifestyle
The brand continues to evolve. Women's Swim and Resort collections have expanded the wardrobe, bringing the Lords of Harlech approach to colour and print into a new season of coastal and resort dressing.
Today, Lords of Harlech is sold in over 34 countries. It has been worn by artists, actors, and athletes. It has appeared on the covers of international fashion titles. It has been shot on coastlines, in ancient cities, and under the lights of Amsterdam.
But the obsession remains exactly what it was in 2016 — color, print, and the quiet confidence of wearing something truly original.
