Pompeii Collection
In September, Lords of Harlech launched its Fall 2024 collection, Pompeii, drawing inspiration from the southern Italian city. The brand has been working in Italy since its launch in 2016, attending trade shows and consulting with manufacturers. The new collection aims to expand the brand’s market further into Italy by venturing farther south to Pompeii.
Known as the Lost City, Pompeii is remembered for the tragedy of the deadly volcanic eruption but also for the austerity of the city’s structures and mosaics. A global audience regularly visits the site, experiencing the city in the aftermath. This collection intends to connect our clients with the past through the prints and colors that exemplify the city. The durability of the designs around Pompeii inspires our designers to produce clothes that similarly stand the test of time, both in style trends and in wear.
The designers chose colors for the clothing based on what they saw in the city ruins. Keeping with global trends, Italian plum is one of the top colors for this season, and Lords of Harlech does not shy away from it. The rest of the colors were pulled from the city itself. Ground-up materials produced the rose, blue, and black, part of an art display at the historic site for pre-eruption artistic practices. The pumice chino pants derive their origin from the building rubble that was disturbed in the eruption. Neutral colors like sage and moss on long-sleeved shirts were inspired by the colors associated with the aging statutes and buildings due to oxidation and weathering.
Equal consideration was given to the mosaics and patterns that Pompeii was known for, from the brickwork lining the pavements and directing water flow to the somewhat intact mosaics on the walls. Known for pattern prints and textiles, Lords of Harlech designers capitalized on the opportunity to bring life to the ancient designs. Some pieces are subtle with their influence, such as the Morris long sleeve in mosaic char, while other garments like the Charles chino pant in caserta, paisley, and navy are bolder in their declarations of inspiration.
The Pompeii collection is dedicated to the beauty and awe shared for the city’s remains, seeking to memorialize the rich history while bringing its influence into the modern age. We hope you feel some of that appreciation when donning garments from the Fall 2024 line which can be found on the Lords of Harlech website.
